Service Description:

This data depicts the boundaries of the Airport Influence Area (AIA) as well as the Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) of the Salinas Municipal Airport in the City of Salinas, Monterey County, California. The "The California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook" describes the AIA as "the area in which current or future airport-related noise, overflight, safety, or airspace protection factors may significantly affect land uses or necessitate restrictions on those uses as determined by an airport." The handbook describes the RPZ as "...trapezoidal-shaped areas located at ground level beyond each end of a runway." See "The California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook" for a full description. See Salinas and Salinas Municipal General Plans, planning documents, and city ordinances for a description of application to intersected properties.

This service was created by the GIS team in 2017. Its primary function is to act as a service for the online web maps that can be found on the Map Gallery within the City of Salinas website.
