Service Description: This map depicts the relative solar irradiance on buildings for the City of Salinas, Monterey County, California. These data are an estimation of the relative average daily solar energy received per given area. This type of information is often used to determine the suitability of solar panel power generation for a building or property. Solar data was generated using Esri's Area Solar Radiation tool, with monthly totals averaged across the year to create average daily values, which were then transformed to relative values on a 0-255 scale.
This service was created by the GIS team in 2018. Its primary function is to act as a service for the online web maps that can be found on the Map Gallery within the City of Salinas website.
